'The One About Matthew Perry' Hits Netflix: A Three-Part Look Behind Chandler Bing

Recent streaming roundups report that Netflix is rolling out a three-part documentary series, The One About Matthew Perry, shining a spotlight on the life of the late actor who played Chandler Bing on Friends. The series is said to weave together fresh interviews, archival footage and rarely seen home videos to trace Perry’s trajectory from breakout sitcom star to troubled Hollywood icon.

Rather than functioning as a simple tribute, the docuseries reportedly digs into Perry’s long struggle with addiction, repeated stints in rehab and the isolation that often came with global fame. At the same time, it broadens the lens to examine Hollywood’s star-making machinery and the wider conversation around mental health and substance use.

Among Netflix’s October slate, overseas entertainment writers are already flagging The One About Matthew Perry as a “must‑watch” title for this week. It’s positioned as essential viewing not only for longtime Friends fans, but also for anyone interested in more candid, emotionally honest portraits of celebrity culture and the personal cost of success.
