5 streaming picks for this weekend: from Marvel’s latest to a new Netflix drama

UK‑based entertainment outlet GamesRadar has compiled a list of “the 5 best new shows and movies” to stream over the October 16–18 weekend, pulling from several major platforms. The picks span the latest Marvel Cinematic Universe series on Disney+, a brand‑new Netflix drama, buzzy releases on Prime Video and Apple TV+, and more. For each title, the article breaks down genre, core premise and why it stands out right now, making it easy for readers to match a show or film to their mood—whether they want the scale of a new Marvel blockbuster‑style series or a grounded, emotionally driven drama. With Halloween approaching, a couple of horror‑leaning options make the cut, but there’s also room for lighter crowd‑pleasers suitable for family viewing. Many of the highlighted titles are likely to arrive on Japanese versions of Disney+ and Netflix around the same time, so the piece works well as an early watchlist for viewers in Japan who follow overseas buzz. Expect the new MCU chapter and at least one of the recommended international dramas to start popping up frequently in Japanese social feeds as word of mouth spreads.
