This Week on Netflix: ‘The Diplomat’ Returns and Chris Evans Leads a Wild New Thriller

According to fan site What’s on Netflix, the week of October 12–18 is shaping up to be another busy one, led by season 4 of the political drama The Diplomat and a new original action thriller called Sacrifice, starring Chris Evans and Anya Taylor‑Joy. The Diplomat follows a U.S. ambassador navigating international crises and cutthroat Washington politics; the new season reportedly throws lead character Kate into yet another high‑stakes diplomatic emergency.

The article also spotlights a heartfelt documentary tribute to a late stand‑up comedian, plus a batch of strong licensed films, including Michael Mann’s crime classic Heat. Taken together, the October slate underlines how wide Netflix’s range has become, from horror and documentaries to family programming. Sacrifice in particular is described as one of Netflix’s “wildest movies of the year,” starting at a glamorous charity gala that quickly spirals into chaos, making it a top recommendation this week for action and thriller fans.
