A TikTok analytics site that tracks breakout keywords has flagged a new type of content surging this week: creators are being urged to “post a prediction about how a new technology will change daily life.” Instead of dry futurism, these short videos imagine very concrete scenarios — what your commute looks like when self‑driving cars are default, how breakfast changes with smart fridges, or what a “normal” morning feels like with an AI coworker on standby.

The tone is playful rather than academic. Many clips are framed like mini speculative vlogs from a near‑future self: “It’s 2032 and my mirror does my skincare routine for me,” or “My delivery drone knows my coffee order better than my partner.” Comment sections quickly fill with debates about whether people would actually want that future, revealing both tech optimism and anxiety in real time.

In Japanese‑language social feeds, tech content tends to focus on product reviews or news recaps; user‑generated “future scenarios” are rarer. For Gen Z and Gen Alpha abroad, however, these prediction posts function as soft skills in public — signalling curiosity, digital literacy, and storytelling ability.
