Anthropic’s New Claude Duet App Wants to Be Your Proactive AI Chief of Staff
AI startup Anthropic has introduced a new app called Claude Duet, now available as a research preview for U.S. Claude Pro and Max subscribers. Rather than being just another chat interface, Duet is designed to act like a proactive chief of staff that keeps your work moving in the background.
Claude Duet connects to your existing information — such as email, documents, and task lists — and continuously triages what needs attention. It’s built to distinguish between what’s urgent, what can wait, and when it should explicitly ask for your approval before taking action. The idea is that you offload your backlog, and Duet quietly drafts documents, organizes tasks, and schedules reminders while you focus on higher‑value work.
Anthropic highlights a new safety classifier and system prompt that review every message to reduce the risk of data leaks or unauthorized actions. For now, access is limited to paying users in the U.S., but the launch positions Duet as an ambitious “autonomous work partner” for freelancers and small teams — and a notable step beyond the traditional question‑answering AI assistant.
