Amazon’s Bee Unveils Two Always‑Listening AI Wearables That Remember Your Day
Amazon-owned startup Bee introduced two new consumer AI wearables on October 15: the Bee Frontier and Bee Eclipse. Both devices are designed to “listen in” on everyday conversations and phone calls, then turn what they hear into searchable summaries and reminders. Frontier is a wristband, while Eclipse is a credit‑card‑sized slab that snaps magnetically to the back of a smartphone, with pricing starting around $75 and going up to about $100.
Audio captured by the devices is processed and surfaced in a companion mobile and desktop app, where users can scroll a timeline of their day and quickly recall who said what and when. The new models plug directly into Amazon’s broader ecosystem: they can tie into shopping features to suggest products mentioned in conversation and connect to services like Gmail, Google Calendar, and Outlook to create tasks and follow‑ups automatically.
Privacy, however, is front and center in international coverage. Because the gadgets rely on always‑available microphones that may pick up bystanders, questions are mounting over consent and data protection. Bee offers a physical mute button and software options to limit where and when recording happens, but the launch is already fueling a larger debate about whether “always‑listening AI” belongs in everyday social settings.
