Order.co brings an AI “Purchasing Copilot” directly into Workday procurement

Procurement platform provider Order.co announced a new app for Workday customers on September 24: “Purchasing Copilot,” an AI assistant embedded directly into Workday’s procurement interface. As the name suggests, it is designed to act as a co‑pilot for buyers, and is being launched as an official Workday Innovation Partner solution.

Purchasing Copilot analyzes purchase history, contract terms and supplier data to guide day‑to‑day decisions such as which vendor to use, when to place an order and what pricing is reasonable. Users can stay within the familiar Workday screens, asking questions in natural language and approving AI‑generated purchase recommendations with a few clicks. The tool can also pull in exchange‑rate and market data to simulate different cost‑optimization scenarios.

The launch reflects growing pressure on procurement teams to control costs in increasingly complex supply chains. Order.co says its goal is to reduce time spent hunting for information while preserving governance and compliance. The product fits into a broader trend of embedding generative AI directly into finance and HR systems, and offers a concrete example of how Japanese firms could “bolt on” AI copilots to existing ERP environments rather than replacing core platforms outright.
