Anthropic folds Cowork into the main Claude app, adds Docs and Slides for AI‑first workflows

Anthropic is reshaping how people use its AI for day‑to‑day work by merging its Cowork product directly into the main Claude app. Instead of choosing between a “chatbot” and a separate “task” interface, users now simply type what they want, and Claude decides whether it should respond conversationally or spin up an automated workflow in the background.

As part of the same update, Anthropic introduced Claude Docs and Claude Slides in beta. These tools let you draft long‑form documents and presentation decks with Claude as a kind of AI collaborator, keeping content, comments and iterations in a single workspace rather than scattered across files and prompts. A growing catalog of small‑business workflows—covering tasks like billing, CRM updates and basic HR admin—can be invoked directly, so non‑technical teams can turn repetitive processes into reusable AI‑powered routines.

Under the hood, Anthropic is rolling out its new Claude Opus 5.5 model, which it claims delivers similar or better performance than Opus 5 at roughly 40% lower cost on typical workloads, while still offering a very large context window for codebases, reports and complex project materials. Together, these changes nudge Claude from “a powerful chat window” toward something closer to an AI‑centric productivity suite.
