Nigerian music outlet BaseNaija has launched “BaseNaija Artist Streaming Earnings,” a web tool that estimates how much money artists actually make from major streaming platforms. The service focuses on Africa‑centric creators and converts payouts into Nigerian naira, covering Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, Audiomack and Boomplay.

Because streaming platforms don’t disclose what they pay each individual artist, BaseNaija builds an estimated earnings range using a mix of public benchmarks and anonymized real‑world data. Users can see how revenue changes by platform and play count, which makes the dashboard useful for emerging artists and indie labels negotiating deals or planning release strategies.

BaseNaija is already well known for its coverage of Afrobeats and the wider Nigerian music scene, so this move into analytics is being read locally as a push for more transparency on behalf of artists. The team says it plans to expand currency and country support and refine its models over time, making the tool an interesting example of how media, data and music tech are starting to converge in Africa.
