Snap’s $2,195 Specs AR Glasses Want to Be Your Next Computer, Not a Toy

Snap has finally turned its long‑teased AR glasses into a real product. The new, second‑generation Specs are now officially launching at a steep $2,195 price point—making them one of the most expensive mainstream wearables on the market and roughly three times the cost of Meta’s Ray‑Ban smart glasses. CEO Evan Spiegel is pitching them not as an accessory, but as “a new kind of computer” you wear on your face.

At the heart of the device is an AI assistant called Specs Intelligence. It’s designed to respond to voice and gaze, handling tasks like capturing photos and video, pulling up information, and managing notifications without you reaching for a phone. Snap is also leaning on media and connectivity: early hands‑on reports highlight integrations with services such as HBO Max and Spotify, plus an optional cellular plan through Verizon so the glasses can operate more independently from a smartphone.
