Snap’s new ‘anticipatory AI’ wants to plan your day across phone, Mac, and AR glasses

Snap, the company behind Snapchat, has unveiled a new AI service called “Specs Intelligence,” designed to anticipate what you’ll need next rather than just answer questions. The service ties together Snap’s new Specs AR glasses with companion apps for iPhone and Mac, effectively turning them into a cross‑device personal assistant.

Once you grant permission, Specs Intelligence can tap into calendars, reminders, maps, and other apps to propose context‑aware actions: suggesting a coffee stop that still gets you to your next meeting on time, nudging you to charge your devices before an afternoon shoot, or surfacing the right Lens or app when you put on the glasses. Snap describes this as “anticipatory AI” that focuses on what you should do next instead of waiting for explicit prompts.

The standalone Specs glasses themselves include on‑device AI for tasks like overlaying information in your field of view and reacting to simple hand gestures, reducing reliance on a tethered smartphone. Priced around $2,200, the device is clearly aimed at creators and professional users, and Snap is already lining up enterprise partners. There’s no word yet on Japanese availability, but the idea of proactive, cross‑app AI assistants is likely to spread quickly to more mainstream mobile apps.
