Sonos 27 update adds an AI ‘music brain’ and smoother sound control across your home

Speaker maker Sonos has unveiled "Sonos 27," a major software update for its whole-home audio system. Coming later this fall, a key feature called "Sonos 27voice" introduces an AI-powered voice assistant focused specifically on music and mood. Instead of being a general-purpose smart speaker, Sonos’ assistant is designed to understand listening habits, suggest playlists for different moments and let users move sound between rooms through natural voice commands.

The update also brings smoother ways to hand off audio from one room to another and a simplified app experience for setup and daily control. Alongside the software, Sonos announced two new flagship devices — the Sonos Beam Ultra soundbar and Sonos Ace Ultra headphones — with general availability set for September 29, 2026. Together, the hardware and AI-driven software show how Sonos aims to redesign home audio around intelligent, context-aware listening.
