Meta rolls out Muse, a personal AI agent that actually gets things done for you

Meta has begun rolling out “Muse,” a new personal AI agent designed to go beyond simple chat and actually take actions on your behalf. Available first in the United States for users 18 and older, Muse lives both in a dedicated mobile app and inside WhatsApp, Meta’s messaging service.

Instead of just drafting emails or suggesting itineraries, Muse can book travel, fill out web forms, complete online checkout flows, send emails, and even help with longer‑term projects such as building a year‑long workout plan or breaking down the steps to launch a small business. The idea is that you talk to Muse like you would text a friend, then let it handle the app‑hopping and data entry work in the background.

Under the hood, Meta says Muse runs inside a “Muse Secure VM,” a private virtual machine in the cloud that stores logins, payment details, and other sensitive data separately from Meta’s advertising systems. That design is meant to counter growing privacy concerns around agentic AI that can access many third‑party services. Muse is free to start with weekly usage limits; paying subscribers can unlock higher caps. With Muse, Meta is positioning itself in the emerging race to build practical, action‑oriented AI assistants that feel less like chatbots and more like true digital helpers.
