LG outlines its ‘AI Home’ vision, turning the whole house into one coordinated system

Ahead of the IFA 2026 trade show in Berlin, LG Electronics has unveiled its “AI Home” vision, which aims to coordinate all of a household’s connected devices through a single, context‑aware intelligence layer. Rather than treating AI features as isolated add‑ons in individual appliances, LG wants a central system that understands what is happening across the home and responds accordingly.

The AI Home platform combines data such as user routines, presence, local weather and energy prices to decide “what should happen in the home right now.” In practice, that might mean automatically adjusting heating and air quality while residents are away and the temperature drops, or suggesting recipes based on what’s in the fridge and pre‑heating the oven when someone starts cooking. At IFA, LG is highlighting an open ecosystem built around Homey, the Dutch smart‑home platform it acquired in 2024, positioning AI Home as a kind of operating system for the connected house that can work with third‑party devices as well.

LG is also demonstrating “ThinQ Claw,” an AI agent that continuously monitors the home’s state and proactively recommends or automates actions, effectively acting as an invisible digital butler. With Google, Amazon and Apple all pushing their own approaches to unified smart‑home control, LG’s announcement underlines a broader industry shift: the real competition is no longer about individual gadgets but about who can orchestrate the entire living space as one coherent service.
