Australia’s NDIS Rolls Out ‘my NDIS’ App to Streamline Disability Support on Mobile
Australia’s National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is expanding the rollout of its official “my NDIS” mobile app, designed to make it easier for participants to manage government‑funded disability support from their phones. According to the government announcement, participants can use the app to submit claims for services, review past payments, and keep track of their NDIS plans, all within a single interface. Since launch, users have already lodged more than 20,000 claims through the app, and reported satisfaction remains high at 4.7 out of 5.
The app is free on both iOS and Android and was built with accessibility in mind, including support for screen readers, high‑contrast themes, and magnification options. Next on the roadmap is opening access to all participants regardless of how they manage their NDIS funds, and integrating the app into Australia’s broader myGov portal to provide a more unified digital experience for public services. For countries like Japan that are also digitizing social programs, my NDIS offers an interesting model: instead of a generic government app, it focuses on one scheme and optimizes the experience for that user group while still plugging into a national e‑government backbone.
