French unicorn Pigment raises $250M to build an AI "operating system" for business planning
French SaaS startup Pigment has raised a $250 million Series E round, one of the largest recent financings for an AI‑driven business planning platform in Europe. The round was led by European growth investors with participation from World Innovation Lab (WiL) and others, underscoring strong global interest in enterprise AI tools that go beyond simple chatbots.
Pigment offers a planning “operating system” that unifies revenue forecasts, headcount plans, inventory scenarios and other core business models in a single interface. Generative AI features let managers run what‑if simulations and query complex data sets using natural language, instead of juggling Excel files and fragmented internal systems. The promise for customers is faster and more consistent decision‑making across finance, HR and operations.
The new capital will fuel expansion in the US and accelerate R&D on autonomous insights and recommendation features. Pigment faces heavyweight rivals such as Anaplan and Workday, both racing to infuse their own products with AI. Investors see Pigment as part of a broader shift in AI funding toward deeply embedded B2B software that rewires essential workflows, rather than standalone conversational apps.
