AI funding surge: $2.7B flows into infrastructure, GPU clouds and deep learning startups
According to an analysis by Israeli data platform StartupHub.ai, the week of August 24–30 saw 31 AI‑related startups worldwide raise a combined $2.7 billion in fresh capital. The biggest cheques went to the plumbing of the AI economy: infrastructure, GPU cloud services, and core deep learning companies each landed around $1 billion single rounds.
Beyond those mega‑deals, 12 more general “artificial intelligence” ventures attracted roughly $604 million, spanning enterprise software, automation tools, and vertical applications. Investors appear to be shifting from betting solely on headline‑grabbing foundation models to funding the layers that every model depends on—compute, networking, storage, and model‑hosting platforms.
In parallel, smaller but notable rounds went to niche players such as Apate.AI, which uses AI agents to waste scammers’ time and gather threat intelligence for banks. Taken together, the week’s deals suggest that the current AI cycle is broadening into a full stack of subsectors rather than concentrating capital in a handful of front‑page model labs.
